BTC Tools Errors, Fixes, and Troubleshooting
BTC Tools is a Windows & Linux program for managing your ASIC miners within a local network. On this page, you will find instructions on how to use BTC Tools, error analysis (BTC Tools Error 8), and compatibility information (Antminer, Bitmain, IP Scanner, API).
Important: Feature availability and performance depend on the miner model, firmware, and network settings. Below are practical steps and actions based on real experience, without unrealistic promises.
Quick Start Checklist
Before You Start: Make sure your PC and miners are connected to the same local network (one router or one VLAN).
Find the miner’s IP address:
- In the BTC Tools device list (click Scan to search),
- In your router settings (DHCP / Connected Devices: enter the router’s IP address in your browser, log in, and check the miner’s IP),
- Or on the miner’s screen (if available).
- Open the miner’s web interface in any browser using its IP address, for example:
http://192.168.0.105 - If the web interface does not open, this means there is a network access issue or an incorrect IP address (this is not a BTC Tools error).
How to Use BTC Tools
Add Miners to the List
There are two ways to do this:
Add by IP (Manual)
- Add a miner using its IP address (get the IP from your router or from the list of detected miners in BTC Tools).
- After adding, check the status: miner availability and statistics retrieval (if the firmware provides data).
Auto Discovery / Network Scan
In BTC Tools v1.3.4 and v1.3.3, the miner discovery feature is available (button: Scan):
- Start scanning your local network (specify the range, for example: 192.168.0.0 to 192.168.0.24).
- Verify the miners found by BTC Tools using IP / MAC / name (if displayed).
Add only the IP addresses that you are sure belong to your miners.
Monitoring Basics
Monitoring usually includes (depending on your miner’s firmware):
- Hashrate, uptime, temperatures.
- Board / chip status.
- Pool / worker status (if provided by the device).
Batch Actions (Mass Settings)
Batch configuration is very convenient, but at the same time risky. Some miners may not accept commands due to firmware limitations or access restrictions.
Safe Approach
- We recommend testing all changes on a single miner first.
- Then apply changes to several miners at once (for example, 2–5 devices).
- We do not recommend changing “everything at once” (pools + network + access), because in case of problems it will be harder to restore the configuration.
Troubleshooting
Common Problems and Quick Fixes
Miner Shows Offline in BTC Tools
- The miner’s IP address is outdated (DHCP may have assigned a new address).
- Open a browser and enter the miner’s IP address in the address bar. If the web interface does not open, the issue is not related to BTC Tools.
- Make sure your PC and the miner are not separated by Guest Wi-Fi, VLAN, or Client Isolation.
Web UI Works, But No Stats in BTC Tools
- Common issue: the required interface or API is disabled or restricted by the firmware.
- Check the access/API settings in the miner’s web interface (if available).
- Check Windows Firewall / antivirus settings and make sure connections for BTC Tools are allowed.
Login Failed / Auth Error
- Different miners use different firmware and credentials (there may be no universal “default” login). Do not rely on root/root or admin/admin.
- Verify the login and password via the web interface of the specific miner.
- If your miner firmware uses IP / ACL / whitelist restrictions, allow access from your PC’s IP address.
How to Fix BTC Tools Error 8 (Error 8 BTC Tools)
What Error 8 Usually Means
If you encounter BTC Tools error 8 (or error 8 BTC Tools), it is usually caused by connection issues between BTC Tools and the miner:
- Incorrect or outdated IP address.
- The miner is not reachable on the network.
- The required API is disabled.
- Possible restrictions imposed by the miner firmware.
- Access is blocked by a firewall or network rules.
What to Try First (Step-by-Step)
- Check the miner’s IP address:
- Get your miner’s IP address from the list of available miners in BTC Tools or from your router.
- Open the miner’s web interface using its IP address (example: http://192.168.0.105).
- If the web interface does not open, this is a network/addressing issue, not a BTC Tools problem.
- Check network and segmentation:
- Your PC and miner must be on the same local network or have proper routing without restrictions.
- Disable Guest Wi-Fi / Client Isolation for local devices (if enabled).
- Check blocking on your PC:
- Review Windows Firewall and antivirus rules and allow outbound connections for BTC Tools.
- Check miner firmware restrictions:
- In some firmware versions, API/remote requests may be disabled or allowed only for specific IP addresses.
- Test with one device:
- If one miner works but another does not, the issue is likely related to the settings or firmware of the specific miner.
When the IP Scanner Can’t Find Miners
If scanning/search does not find any miners:
- The wrong IP range is being scanned (PC: 192.168.1.x, miners: 192.168.0.x).
- Network isolation is enabled (Guest / VLAN / Client Isolation).
- Scanning is blocked by the router or firewall on the PC.
Solution:
Check the IP range (subnet) used for scanning. Make sure that your PC and miners are on the same local network (without Guest Wi-Fi / VLAN / Client Isolation), then run the scan again.
Integrations
BTC Tools Antminer / Bitmain Compatibility
BTC Tools compatibility with Antminer/Bitmain does not depend on the miner brand itself, but on whether the miner firmware allows access to statistics via API:
- If your miner firmware provides statistics and allows requests from your local network, BTC Tools will be able to receive data.
- If the API is restricted, some features may not be available
Example:
- Antminer with stock firmware → API enabled → BTC Tools can see statistics.
- Antminer with custom firmware → API disabled → BTC Tools connects, but no data is available.
Recommended test:
Connect to the Antminer/Bitmain using the miner’s IP address and check whether statistics are being retrieved.
Compatibility and Requirements
Supported Devices (Firmware-Dependent)
BTC Tools is designed to work with ASIC miners in your local network. Compatibility depends on:
- The miner model and firmware.
- Availability of the required monitoring interface / API.
If the firmware does not provide data or blocks requests, some features may not work.
System Requirements
OS: Windows 10/11 (x64 recommended).
Network: Your PC must be connected to the same local network (LAN) as the miners and have access to their IP addresses.
Windows Access: If necessary, allow BTC Tools in Windows Firewall/antivirus (incoming and outgoing connections).
BTC Tools FAQ & Troubleshooting
- First, find the IP addresses of your miners (using the router, BTC Tools, or the miner interface).
- Add IP addresses manually or use network scanning.
- Check whether the miner web interface opens and whether statistics are being retrieved.
First, check the miner’s IP address and access to the web interface. Then verify network segmentation and firewall blocking. You can find detailed instructions in the section “How to Fix BTC Tools Error 8 (Error 8 BTC Tools)”.
In most cases, yes—if the miner firmware provides a monitoring/API interface. Test on one miner before applying mass settings to all devices.
You can find updates and report issues both on our website and on GitHub. Whenever new versions of BTC Tools are released, they are also available on the Download page.
